Quivive who have won all their previous matches were confident and relaxed going into game. VVV won the toss and chose to bowl on an overcast conditions. Amar and Maninder opened the innings and welcomed the bowlers in style giving a brisk start once again scoring 30 runs from first 4 overs. Amar got out to a short ball that kept a tad low. Swapnil went in at 3 and joined the party along with Maninder. They were thrashing the bowlers on loose balls and kept away the good ones. At 12 overs we were closing in on 100 runs, Maninder got out. Walked in Jami at 4 who took time to settle in and on the other side Swapnil was scoring briskly and reached his 50. Right after reaching the milestone Swapnil got out. Prashaanth joined Jami in the middle and started to rotate strike straight away and keeping their strike bowler on check without giving any chance. Prashaanth then gave away his wicket as a gift with a easy catch to short midwicket fielder. Akash walked in at 6. Jami and Akash started to look very much settled and Jami threw his wicket with a expensive drive. Ashish and Akash took time to settle in as there were 22 overs still remaining. They paced their runs well built the partnership and took our score over 200 at 40 overs mark. Then we lost Ashish and Hemanth in quick succession. In walked Rohit with clear intention. He made a quick 32 from 21 balls and an equal support from Akash with quick singles and boundaries which helped us get over 250. We finished with 271 on the board.

A target of 271 is always big and Quivive started their bowling with high on confidence. Rohit started the defense with a good first over. Prashaanth on the other end gave the start that we needed initially sending of the openers back to the hut early. The very next ball he made the other opener to nick one but a very difficult chance at 1st slip which we almost grasped it. They started to make runs slowly with 3 or 4 runs every over and an odd boundary. Then came a moment of brilliance from Jami at mid-off with a direct hit he sent back the no.3 batsman. At 10 overs they were 52/2. Rohit then introduced Savneet and Piyush. Savneet made the ball to move right away while Piyush coming back into this started scratchy. Savneet on the other end was disciplined and got 2 wickets under his name. Piyush came back to his basics and started hitting the right length, he then sent back the opener who just made a 50 back with a ball that raised high enough from a back of length and Amar took a good catch at square leg. Savneet claimed his 3rd on the other end with a spiderman catch from Rohit at short covers. They were reeling 107/6. Now is the point where we started to leak runs with extras and loose balls. In 5 overs they scored 40 easy runs and they were at 180 from 35 overs. Rohit then brought Hemanth and himself back into the attack to stop the run flow. They bowled discipline line and length and kept runs on check. We then bowled them out on 207 from 41.4 overs. A special mention to Ashish who really kept well and took 3 good catches behind the wicket and stopped those difficult wides which we bowled.

Overall we had a good game together as everyone contributed to the win. We have our top order back in form, middle order stopping the wicket fall, lower order contributing crucial runs. Bowling wise all our bowlers are in good form and hitting right areas.

As always …. PLAY TO WIN! …. MA KI JAI !

A very happy captain 😉
