The first Carousel series was held in September 2015, organised jointly by Qui Vive, ACC, Bloemendaal and VRA Amsterdam. The four events were each attended by more than 40 children aged between 7 and 11, who received coaching clinics followed by short matches. The emphasis was on fun and enjoyment, and the experiment was so successful that it has been decided to hold two such series this year, at the beginning and end of the season.
The spring series will begin at ACC’s ground in Amstelveen on 3 April, followed by the second event at Bloemendaal CC a week later. It will be Qui Vive’s turn to host the Carousel on 17 April, with the final session taking place at VRA’s ground in the AmsterdamseBos on 24 April. All four Carousel events will be on Sunday afternoons, from 14:00 to 17:00.
The Carousel is an excellent opportunity for children with no previous experience of the game to join in and see whether they want to play on a more regular basis. The atmosphere is welcoming, and beginners and young players who have already learned the basics are able to take part side by side.
If you would like your child to join Qui Vive’s list of participants in any or all of these Carousel events, mail Rod Lyall at email@example.com.
