Qui Vive Zomi was looking forward to the game against Hermes DVS to continue on the winning streak after the first game. The weather was at its best, with a lot of Sun. Started with a few warm-ups and drills. With the start, Qui Vive won the toss and without any apprehensions, elected to bat.
All set for the start, as the opener’s walk in…
Qui Vive started slow with the opening pair of Vivek and Tarun; We lost Tarun’s wicket quickly with a sharp rising ball taking edge of Tarun’s bat to be caught at square point. B.Shah walked in at number 3, determined to score big and along with Vivek started to consolidate. After seeing off the initial spell and getting their eyes in, Vivek and Binit started scoring more freely. But after few dot balls and attempting to play more attacking shots – Binit perished after scoring 13. As they say, One brings Two, after a short while, Vivek took the long walk back while attempting to hit across and getting LBW on 53.
Bharat joined Abhinav at crease. The strike rotation was the prime focus in middle overs and both of them attempted that; but in an attempt to snatch too many too soon, Bharat was LBW out . We lost the wicket of Jatin quite quickly, after this Abhinav and Grant steadied the ship. They both started rotating and picking the odd boundary .
After a good run partnership, Grant bowled out after scoring 19. Abhinav looked in good touch as well and continued milking the ball around. Abhinav scored a well-played 95 and was not out leading the score to 230.
Pink ball ready to strike….
With runs on the board and focus to win the game, Quivive started with their opening combination of Ranjit and Siddharth. Unfortunately, few wides allowed the opposition to score freely and be more steady. After few overs Ranjit was replaced by Akshay and fielding was tightened which helped the team in restricting few runs getting wickets on the way.
The score was now 90/4 in 14 overs. It was tough to to restrict the batsman ie J beijer as he and the partner Plegt were playing with decent run rate and had already scored lots of runs and providing a good score on the board for the opposition to be on the front seat.
Few bowling changes were tried to get the partnership broken and was indeed broken when Plegt was bowled out but the damage was already done. They cruised to a win in the 32nd over with J Biejer making 122 on the way.
A wonderful all round performance by the team where everyone contributed fully but unfortunately it was not enough and we lost.
We continue with the learning and doing better game by game.
