Qui Vive ZAMI beat VCC by 102 runs in season opener

On 13th of May, a gloomy day QuiVive Zami were all ready to face their first challenge of the season against VCC in an home game.

Our captain for the day Sudhanshu won the toss and elected to BAT first. QV were unlucky to lose their debutant opener Vivek to a run out. But then Pavan and Abhishek came together to stitch up a good partnership and took the attack to VCC bowlers to ensure that there were no more hiccups. The duo added 50 runs together before Pavan was dismissed with the score at 69/2in 11 overs. With the foundation laid, It was a perfect lauching pad for the big hitters of QV to express themselves and they did just that, With the captain in particuler coming down heavily on the VCC bowling. sudhanshu first played himself in along with Abhishek and then later with Hobby. In the last 10 overs, Sudhanshu switched gears smashing bounday after boundary en route bring up a well made half century, Along with Sudhanshu , Atul and Hobby made good use of the long handle landing a few meaty blows.

Sudhanshu looked set on his way to score a well deserved century but just wasnt to be as he remained unbeaten on 85. QV ended up with 241/6 in 30overs.

With a big total to defend, The QV bowlers were right on top of the game, Bowling good lines and lengths and ensured that VCC did not get off to a flying start. Nipun removed one of the openers early, and even though there was a small partnership building for VCC, Goutam came into the attack and picked up 2 quick wickets to break the back of VCC’s batting thanks to the excellent pressure built up by Brajendra and Rajkumar. By the mid way stage of the chase, It was pretty evident that there was only going to be one winner, In order to get the win and ensure that the rain doesn’t play spoil sport. Qv tried to quickly run through their overs and in the process Vivek was able to come into the attack and quickly cleaned up the tail to give QV a thumping victory in their first home game.

The day belonged to the batsmen, especially Sudhanshu who playing his last game for team came up with a captain’s knock and set the tone for rest of the season.
